The Backrooms' premise centers on a spooky, endless, labyrinthine setting in which you are confined to a dull, yellow office with fluorescent lights that hum. According to the game Backrooms's narrative, which is based on creepypasta lore, players get "noclipped"—a term taken from video games that means to fall out of bounds—into this unsettling and seemingly never-ending maze. You come across threats, monsters, and a feeling of dread as you make your way through.
